Who we are
History
The “Nello Bini” modern art foundation has been operating since 1998 in the structure it includes
the house where the artist lived, the laboratory, the pavilion and the surrounding park, where Nello
he worked as a sculptor, graphic designer and painter until his death.
History
Mission
The Foundation was born by the will of the artist and his wife. The construction was concretely completed by the current administrators, indicated in the will: Gabriele Olmi and Fiorenzo Dei Innocenti. After its birth, the Foundation was recognized by the Tuscany Region, which still controls its work.
The headquarters is located on a hill, in the municipality of Bagno a Ripoli. It enjoys a wonderful view of the entire city of Florence, which extends, looking west, over the entire surrounding context.
The statutory purposes, indicated by the artist himself and his wife, are:
- The conservation of the structure and of Nello's works present in the house, in the park and in the pavilion;
- The dissemination of the entire path followed by the artist, from figurative art to modern and contemporary art;
- Promote, within the structures, experiences of students, young people and artists, towards training and consolidation in the practice of modern and contemporary art;
- Welcoming people interested in approaching, observing and understanding what Nello achieved during his life.
In the twenty-five years since its birth, the Foundation has acted to achieve what the artist wanted.
Two new members have recently been introduced into the Board of Directors, representing the Municipalities of Bagno a Ripoli and Rignano sull'Arno.
Vision
The Foundation operates in the Florentine context, in which there is a strong artistic and cultural testimony linked to aesthetic models relating to the medieval and Renaissance periods.
Florence was the "Cradle of the Renaissance", and today attracts visitors from all over the world interested in seeing the immense values left by artists such as Michelangelo, Leonardo, Brunelleschi, Botticelli. All this has a strong influence on the taste and sensitivity of the Florentines, who are very attentive to forms of artistic expression considered, rightly or wrongly, almost unique and inalienable.
One aim of the Foundation is therefore also to contribute to recreating openings, in the current imagination, which are able to give greater attention and experiment, also towards new ideas and modern creative techniques.
We are open to those who want to try to enter this great space, where they can let their self wander today.
